1. Prayerful

1. Prayerful

Standing statistically head-and-shoulders above all other factors supporting spiritual luster is being prayerful. Prayer is the taste of the sweetness of intimate conversation with God. For a Christian, prayer is as essential as breathing. Prayer urges you to change so you can learn how to love better. Sometimes this change is expressed exteriorly, as in assisting someone in their earthly or spiritual journey. At other times prayer moves you interiorly, as you change your attitudes, renew your soul, or deepen your spiritual desire.

Prayer is at the core of your spiritual being. You are called to spend time regularly, if not ceaselessly listening and waiting upon the Holy. Indeed, your whole life can become a continuous prayer, when you become focused on the blessed moment of “now.” Prayer is intrinsically necessary for spiritual maturation; without prayer your very true-self withers!

All of life has increased meaning as you inject prayer into its midst.

Prayer brings you closer to your spiritual core; it readies you to better pick-up the vibrations of the Spirit in your soul. Prayer attunes you to the Spirit in others and in you. Prayer massages your soul, and relaxes your spirit. Prayer soothes you so you can let-down the over-built walls you have erected to protect you from the snares of temptation and all evil. These walls are weights that smother your sensitivity to your true-self, God’s presence in you. Growing in spirit means that we gradually tear-down these walls. Prayer cultivates your spiritual sensitivity to “sense” God everywhere. When you lack spiritual sensitivity you likewise lose touch with spiritual luster; you become blind to the majesty right in front of you, and inside of you.

I lose myself, I hand-over control of ‘me’ from my ego to my truth, when I recognize the spiritual luster in another. I’m then looking at the mirror of Love and see the face of Jesus. I sense the unconditional love of God everywhere; the ‘eternal everywhere’ where all virtue is wrapped together into fullness. At this marvelous yet scary precipice I feel closer to offering my total ‘Yes’ to God. I am now very close to the Light!

Scripture

I pray also for those who believe in me through their word, that all may be one as you, Father, are in me, and I in you: I pray that that they may be one in us.      John 17:20-21

Rising early in the morning, Jesus went off to a lonely place in the desert; there he was absorbed in prayer. Mark 1:35

At every opportunity pray in the Spirit, using prayers and petitions of every sort. Ephesians 6:18

We have confidence in God that he hears us whenever we ask for anything according to his will. 1 John 5:14
